Our Family Safety, is committed to advancing the education and preparedness of first responders, ensuring that those who serve and protect are equipped with the best possible training and resources. It's latest initiative, Cell Block Rescue: Search & Extraction Tactics, is a groundbreaking course designed specifically for correctional officers, providing specialized training in fire-related emergencies, risk assessment, and tactical rescues, within correctional facilities.
Rodolfo "Rudy" Rodriguez is a dedicated father, husband, and a seasoned fire service professional with over 16 years of experience. As a firefighter, instructor, and innovator, Rudy has devoted his career to enhancing the skills, knowledge, and safety, of first responders across the globe.
With more than a decade of experience as a fire instructor, and over a dozen different certifications relating to education, incident command, leadership, and multiple disciplines within special operations, Rudy has trained both stateside and international firefighters from over 10 different countries in critical life-saving techniques. His expertise spans from Basic Firefighter skills and tactics to Rapid Intervention, Vent-Enter-Search (VES) tactics, and Technical Rescue—all taught at prestigious Fire Academies and Training Expos. Also, as a founding member of a Rapid Intervention Competition Team, he has helped shape the standards for firefighter survival and emergency response under extreme conditions.
Beyond firefighting, Rudy has spent eight years in Special Operations Marine and Dive Rescue, executing high-risk water rescue missions and contributing to elite rescue teams. Rudy is also a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Instructor, collaborating with Special Operations Combat Medics to train SWAT Medics, Law Enforcement Officers, Military Contractor Medics, and fellow Firefighters, in advanced trauma care techniques for high-threat environments.
Furthermore, as the founder of Our Family Safety, LLC, Rudy is committed to advancing the education and preparedness of first responders, ensuring that those who serve and protect are equipped with the best possible training and resources. His latest initiative, Cell Block Rescue: Search & Extraction Tactics, is a groundbreaking course designed specifically for correctional officers, providing specialized training in fire-related emergencies, risk assessment, and tactical rescues, within correctional facilities.
With a passion for teaching and an unwavering commitment to the safety of his brothers and sisters in service, Rudy Rodriguez continues to be a driving force in first responder training and emergency preparedness.
Cell Block Rescue: Search & Extraction Tactics—a specialized training and certification course I developed to address a critical gap in emergency preparedness within correctional facilities. Designed by firefighters with correctional environments in mind, this course equips correctional officers with the essential knowledge, tools, and confidence to safely and effectively respond to fire emergencies behind the walls.
The training focuses on three core areas: the proper use of fire-related safety equipment, risk assessment in high-pressure situations, and tactical search and extraction procedures. These skills are taught through a combination of hands-on training and real-world scenarios that mimic the unique challenges of working in secure, high-risk environments.
The reason I created this course is simple—too often, correctional officers are not provided with specialized training that reflects the complex realities they face during emergencies, especially fires. These environments pose unique obstacles, from locked doors and restricted access to managing individuals in custody during chaotic situations. Standard fire training doesn’t address these factors. I saw the need for a tailored solution that prioritizes both responder and inmate safety while acknowledging the operational limitations of a correctional setting.
Cell Block Rescue is more than a class—it's a critical tool for empowering correctional officers and improving safety protocols within our nation’s jails and prisons.
